Blogbuster Tour — Stop IV

Emily’s book review for The Wild Hunt has gone live at What Book is That?.  I think she summed up the novel very well.  You can read it here.

Her review also says the book is 100 pages long as a pdf.  The e-book is that long because it’s been stripped of all the formatting that goes into page layout for the print version.  The print and e-book are the same length, around 90,000 words, which makes it a full novel.  That’s 300 pages long in paperback.  I just want to clarify that point, because I don’t want people thinking they’re buying a 25,000-word novella or anything.

Check back on Monday, when I’ll be guest posting at Word Zombie.

Blogbuster Tour — Stop III

Today I have a guest post up at I Just Wanna Sit Here and Read.  It’s not about writing so much as what any writer physically goes through as he or she works on a book.  It can be quite draining for both the mind and body.

On Friday I’ll be part of the Indie Carnival going on at What Book is That?.  They’re holding a big bash all month, so check it out.

As a reminder, be sure to post a comment either on my site or any of my guest blogs to be entered to win one of several $25 Amazon gift cards.  You can also follow me on Twitter (@Jared Sandman) for a chance to win.  Comment on multiple posts to increase your odds of winning.

Richard Matheson Interview

Richard Matheson’s one of my favorite writers.  If you don’t know who he is, brush up with a history lesson here.  He’s a notorious recluse and doesn’t do too many booksignings or interviews.  On Youtube I came across an epic 3.5 hour interview conducted with him in 2002.  This is the most extensive review of his life and career I’ve seen.  It’s well worth the time if you’re a fan of his.

Here’s the first bit of the interview.  It’s in seven parts, each about half an hour long.

And don’t forget that tomorrow my Blogbuster Tour 2011 begins in earnest.  I’ll be over at Scott Nicholson’s blog with an excerpt of my upcoming horror novel, The Shadow Wolves.

The Shadow Wolves

COMING SOON!

THE SHADOW WOLVES

They are the Shadow Wolves, members of an elite unit that defend the border between Mexico and Arizona’s Tohono O’odham Nation.  They protect the reservation from drug traffickers and illegal immigrants alike.  The secret to their success is the dark bond they share, for when the full moon blossoms they stalk the desert as creatures of the night.  Some call them werewolves, while tribal elders have an older word for them:  skinwalkers.

When a former FBI agent joins the team, he’s welcomed “into the pack.”  Scout Hemene revels in his newfound abilities, powers that someone like Hector Villalobos would kill to experience.

As leader of Mexico’s most vicious drug cartel, Villalobos wages war to destroy the shapeshifters.  The battle not only pits the Shadow Wolves against Hector’s violent gang, it also tests their loyalties to one another.

Which is more powerful, Man or Beast?

Robert McCammon

Robert McCammon is a great writer.  He has a new book just out called The Five that you should buy.  He wrote my absolute favorite book, Boy’s Life, and I came across this video about it on Youtube.  The school in question is a local one here in Florida, and I would’ve attended the school board meeting had I known Rick was making a personal appearance.

Seems the school wanted to ban the book (among several others), so the author hopped a plane to make a personal plea to the school board members.  I wonder what happened to all those other books whose authors *didn’t* do the same.  While Boy’s Life was spared, how many other novels weren’t?

Friday the 13th Sale

In honor of Friday the 13th — which really should be a Hallmark holiday — I’m running a special through the weekend.  You’ll be able to purchase my horror novel The Wild Hunt for 50% off the digital price.  That means it only costs $1.99.  Go to smashwords.com and insert the promo code “BW54R” at checkout.

For those of you who prefer a physical copy, I’m also selling the trade paperback for half price.  That’s just $7.50, less than the cost of a movie ticket.  Get it here through the online shop .

Keep in mind these prices are good for three days only, so snag a copy while they last.

THE HUNT HAS BEEN SOUNDED

The ghoulish horsemen of the Wild Hunt are cursed to ride forever as part of the Furious Host.  Criminals and sadists in life, their savagery knows no bounds in the afterlife.  Their leader, the hellish Lord of the Hunt, has come to reclaim what was stolen from him so many decades ago . . .

A TOWN FROZEN IN FEAR

The village of Wodanfield doesn’t celebrate the holidays.  Its citizens stay locked indoors during the yuletide.  Only a few are old enough to know why, because they remember the evil that is returning.  When Erik and Allie Herne move to Wodanfield, they consider the natives’ odd habits to be charming small-town quirks.  Until their neighbor, Ivan Hertz, reveals the truth . . .

 A PAYMENT IN BLOOD

As mutilated corpses stack up and the body count rises, the Hernes become aware they’re connected to the ongoing violence.  Because now the Host is after Allie, and they won’t stop ‘til she’s dead.  Forced to transform herself into a warrior from a bygone era, she confronts the undead menace.  Only then does she realize there’s no escaping . . .
